Lancaster, PA - Spring has arrived! With it comes a new chapter for LCFC and a first for the club. During the fall 2023 season, the LCFC Men took on a busy schedule of league play and the US Amateur Cup qualifiers for the state of PA. Group play for the tournament was set with LCFC drawn into a group with Phoenix SC, West Chester Reserves, and new cross town rival Alloy SC.
With all games being played away, LCFC went to Brynn Athen College on October 15th to take on West Chester Reserves in the first group stage fixture. The Brick City Boys rolled with the punches against a solid West Chester side giving up 2 goals, but came roaring back to grab all 3 points with a thrilling 3-2 victory. Two weeks later, LCFC traveled to Cabrini College for a game under the lights against Alloy SC. The new UPSL club gave the boys a tight match, but the LCFC back line held strong and one moment of magic took us home with a victory and our second win in the group stage with a 1-0 final. November brought our last group stage match against Phoenix. Again traveling to Brynn Athen, the LCFC Men brought home an exciting 5-3 win and advanced us to the semi-finals where we would face V.E. Reserves. V.E. Reserves vs. LCFC on 12/3 at Brynn Athen saw again the boys fall behind early on. This time both teams traded goals until LCFC pulled ahead 3-2 before one final goal pushed us to a 4-2 win and an automatic berth in the Region-1 Amateur Cup tournament. LCFC took its first cup loss in the final to familiar foe, West Chester. However, the men's team has never made a final before and advancing to Regionals was the goal all along for the squad. Our focus shifts to Northern Virginia where LCFC takes on Athletic Club Los Toros, the winner of the Virginia qualifier, and hosts of our first ever trip to a Region 1 match. Keep an eye on social media for information about game location, time, and any stream information.
